This image (below post) is a visualization of how and why Google.com typically makes and breaks all online businesses. Although this does change a bit from time to time, for the most part, this is generally what you’ll see accross the board when looking at web stats for various web sites.
Having a great site, a good idea, or a unique service isn’t enough to make it with your Internet business. You need visibility on Google to matter, period. Sites that do well on Google will make money, sites which don’t, well, they will not. That’s the bottom line. Whether you’re paying Google to appear with Adwords, or your highly ranked for search terms important to you, one thing is for sure, unless you’re uniquely special in your own way, you’ll need a consistent stream of new visitors to ‘find’ you, and without Google, it’s not going to be easy.

Agreed. Just published article about Google vs. Twitter and why Google is not about search, but rather about owning so many peices of the internet information pie, that they can drive everyone to their search. Sites for “sharing” give them a run for their money. Yahoo and AOL are very yesterday. Now G will deflect FB and others to stay in lead. I just bought GOOG stock, in fact. Putting money where my mouth is.
