*** Here Is A List Of Some Of The Best Domain Name Resources Available ***NEW YORK, NY – This morning I wanted to look at the live auction results for NamesCon over the last three years, what’s on record at NameBio, which is here. That list showed that not only was there a slight rebound in total domain sales this year, but that the 2018 live auction netted the largest dollar amount total over the three year period. It also showed that the percentage of transactions for .com domains grew over the period with 56% being .com in 2016, 63% in 2017, and 69% in 2018.
While there seems to be more and more gTLDs getting into the auctions, when it comes to actual done deals during the live auction, there were less and less dot alternatives each year. But what if we wanted to look at these numbers and remove all other TLDs from the equation, and only examine the results for .com sales? That is what is below and it shows that while some of the results sounded sort of dismal, it wasn’t that bad after all if you compare it to previous years.
- Total .COM ONLY sales for 2018 NamesCon (53 sales) were $1,519,300.00. Even without its top player (Great.com), the average sale was ($11,910.00).
- Total .COM ONLY sales for 2017 NamesCon (82 sales) were $1,090,652. Without its top player (Single.com), the average sale was ($9,885.00).
- Total .COM ONLY sales for 2016 NamesCon (57 sales) were $1,175,433.00. Without its top player (Lawn.com), the average sale was ($16,704.00).

The only usage of new tlds and alt junk like .io is people using them as “temporary url’s”. They buy them cheap on the assumption that the business will probably fail anyway, and if succeeds they will need to then buy the “real url” (.com) with money raised.
Millennials have only ever used .com, they don’t know .loans or .xyz. The new tld experiment has failed, it started 16 years ago with .biz and .info and the final nail was Icann simply releasing everything. Guess what, even throwing the entire kitchen sink didn’t work!
