PALM BEACH – It’s always interesting to see what people are purchasing in the domain space, and then even more interesting is to look at how much they’ve spent and what they’re doing with that acquisition, especially when it comes to the controversial new gTLD space.
According to OnlineDomain.com, the “.Club” domain registry folks have reported their 2019 domain sales including a big one namely, “Business.Club” – all of which sales are listed at sold.domains.
Let’s look at what was spent, in total, and what’s developed verses what redirects, is parked, what looks to be either a simple landing page – verses who is using these sites as what appears to be, not main, but at least standard sites with real content, purpose and architecture behind them. Often times when I look at these types of domain names, it’s hard to tell who is merely tossing-up a simple landing page, single page bootstrap site with clickable anchors which pop you around – verses who is actually using them and a genuine service or informational site.
Here are the results of what I’ve found. Out of the 30 domain sales in this release, $107,010.00 in revenue was generated resulting in 37% of the sites developed as either a website, single landing page, or service of some kind. 17% of the domains appear to be complete and genuinely used leaving 63% of the sites either parked, undeveloped, under construction, redirecting, being used as an iframe for the .com site, or questionable if in use at all.
Have fun with the list and you can click around on the developed sites to see what you think and make your own judgement.
UPDATE: *** Brought to my attention and pointed out by a reader, it is relevant and worth mentioning that it takes time to build websites and these purchases were all completed this year, some of which very recently.

Snoopy says
Looks like their premium sales have fallen by about 70% compared to last year, that is an enormous drop.
From the last 6 months of last year – “bringing total .CLUB premium name sales for Q1 & Q2 combined to $499,414.27.”
Konstantinos Zournas says
John, there is no point in this. Some of the domains were sold last week.
No one develops that fast.
John Colascione says
This is a very good point Konstantinos. I should add a note to the article that mentions that.
BUT, I wouldn’t say no one develops that fast.
I develop near instantaneously when I acquire a domain costing more than reg-fee and have a genuine plan to use it. Here are just three purchased this year.
