PALM BEACH, FL – Way – way back in 2008, I suggested one of my clients purchase the domain name, NNN-Properties.com. I usually steer clear of hyphenated domain names because they clearly do not pass the radio test. Who wants to tell someone to visit their website address with a dash in it? Probably no one, and especially not me. But in this circumstance, I figured the domain name would likely rank well for the term “NNN Properties” which are commercial investment properties.
The client had mentioned to me that they had an interest in these NNN Properties and that they could lead to very profitable sales in the real estate business and are usually sought by people who are investors. NNN properties are often franchise stores, Burger Kings, Wendy’s and/or shopping malls and helping people find these commercial properties usually leads to lucrative commercial real estate sales with high value commissions.
With extraordinarily little effort, together, we scooped up this domain name and built an amazingly simple website (which is not even mobile friendly) to showcase investment properties across the United States. With again, extraordinarily little money spent and no advertising at all, the site has generated thousands of leads over the last twelve years. The site receives roughly 47% of its traffic from Google, according to StatCounter.com (Ranks best in Yahoo and Bing for localized NNN Properties searches).
This is an example of one of those situations that just blows your mind in the domain business. A $60 investment paid for itself with maybe one or two leads, and the rest is all gravy: pretty amazing. 12 years of near daily leads (plus Google AdSense Revenue) for a tiny investment and a little foresight. Totally amazing.
Sometimes it actually isn’t who you know; it’s what you know. At $60 bucks this wasn’t a big money move; it was just good thinking.
